Delivery & FAQs
Delivery
All containers are offloaded by sliding off the back of
a flatbed. We can arrange to use a forklift at an additional
charge on a per case basis. The following are questions that
should be asked prior to delivery.
1. Can your site take a 34' long by 9' wide rigid vehicle?
(20' units are normally delivered on this type of
vehicle.)
2. Can your site take a 60' long by 9' wide tractor with
flatbed?
(40' units are normally delivered on this type of
vehicle.)
3. Does your site have hard access?
(Our vehicles will not drive over sand, muddy ground,
etc. unless this has been pre-agreed.)
4. Are there any underground cables, sprinklers, cesspools,
etc.
(please state prior.)
5. Are there any overhead cables below 13'?
(Please state height below 13'.)
6. Are there any overhanging trees?
(Please state height below 13'.)
7. If you want us to offload or load containers from a public
road, then you will need to take responsibility for any legal
implications.
8. Delivery time required? (site opening times.)
(Please state.)
When access for a truck presents a problem we can most always
come up with a solution, such as hiring a crane, using a
forklift, etc. Use the Request a Quote form or contact us
and we will try find the best option for delivery and pick
up.
If we are unable to deliver/offload a unit due to reasons
of an unsuitable site access, or unsuitable ground conditions
there will be a wasted transport charge for both the delivery
and return transport to our location. Additionally any wasted
time on site will be charged at $90 per hour.

What are storage containers?
The storage containers we supply were originally developed
for marine use. They are steel shipping containers manufactured
to a very high specification constructed of high tensile
steel. As such they are not only strong and very secure but
also capable of surviving in extreme conditions. These design
qualities ensure our steel containers are ideal to use for
storage.

How is a storage container constructed?
Standard ISO freight containers are designed to withstand
the rigorous demands of marine transportation and are constructed
with a high tensile steel rigid framework, with corrugated
steel walls, and doors. Internal floors are treated timber,
27mm thick, mounted on steel cross members. Double doors
are fitted to one end of the storage container retained by
four full height locking bars all fitted with lockable handles.

How secure are the storage containers?
Storage containers are very secure and virtually vandal
proof. As standard, there is provision for the fitment of
padlocks on each of the four door handles. In the event your
storage requires extra security, we can fit the container
with a steel lock box. Our lock box is designed to accept
a high security container padlock, and protect the lock from
being tampered with.

Can you put a storage container anywhere?
We use flatbed trucks to transport our storage containers.
Typically the containers are offloaded by sliding off the
back of the tilted flatbed as the truck is pulling forward.
Our drivers require a path of 20'–60' ft. from where the
truck will be positioned to drop the container, to pull out
so that the container can slide off the back. Further more
the truck that is used to deliver the containers will need
at least 13' of vertical clearance, so any cables, tree limbs,
over hangs under 13' must be stated prior.
If you are not sure about your site, then simply send us
a drawing with dimensions and we can check if that particular
area is fit to accept delivery.
Within reason we can get a storage container almost anywhere.
All our storage containers have specially designed corner
castings for lifting and positioning, and the majority of
10 and 20 ft. containers have forklift truck pockets.

Do I need a permit for a storage container?
Storage containers are non-permanent so for most of Long
Island it is not a problem. There are certain areas where
you may be required to purchase a permit.

What should I put underneath a storage container?
Storage containers should be placed on level ground, if
not you may find it difficult to open and shut the doors.
Our drivers can help with the positioning, however, it is
the buyers responsibility to ensure the ground is adequately
prepared and that you have the materials to make the storage
container sit level. We can level the container using our
own materials when notified in advance.

If we rent storage containers, can we buy them at a later
date?
If we know in advance that you are interested in purchasing
the container, we can arrange an option to buy at a later
date.

If we purchase storage containers, will you buy them back
at a later date?
Yes, the price will be subject to the market value at the
time and transport costs to collect the storage containers.

Can storage containers be selected, so we know exactly
what we are buying?

How and when do we pay for a storage container?
You can pay for a storage container by a variety of methods
including cash, company check, credit and debit card. When
renting a storage container the first payment required is
the first months rent, delivery and pick up charges. These
must be received prior or at the time of rental before container
is released. Thereafter a monthly payment plan will be set
up.

Do the storage containers have a problem with condensation?
As with any enclosed space, condensation can be an issue.
To combat this the majority of our storage containers are
fitted with ventilators. However if you are using the storage
container to store sensitive goods we recommend that you
open the doors on a regular basis to enable the storage container
to breathe. This is more important during periods of extreme
cold or hot weather. It is also a good idea not to lean or
stack sensitive goods directly against the walls of the storage
container.

What maintenance do I need to carry out?
Steel storage containers are very robust and require little
or no maintenance but it a good idea to ensure the doors
are kept in good working order. Therefore we recommend that
you grease the door hinges and locking rods at regular intervals.
